My Make Up Routine

Sunday, 23 March 2014

Hello lovelies!

Today I am going to write about my daily make up routine. I thought you might be interested to know what my favourite daily essentials are as I haven't done a post like this yet; so here we go!

Firstly, the Maybelline 'Baby Skin' Primer. I was very intrigued by the hype for this, so after seeing lots of bloggers try this (with mainly positive reviews) I decided to give it a go. I am a sucker for pretty packaging so I had no hesitation when buying. I use this as an all over face primer and you only need a little squirt each time you use it. This product claims to be a 'pore-eraser' and it definitely does a good job with this, when I put my concealer and foundation on, my pores are virtually invisible. I also find that although it has an slightly oily feel to it (which I have been told is silicone), it does make it easier to apply my make up and gives it a more matte finish, so I would definitely recommend - I've nearly run out and will definitely be repurchasing next month!

Rimmel has always been my go to for foundation. I know that their foundation is a good colour for my skin and although I'd love to try a Mac foundation or one more expensive, I simply don't have the money to spend in case it's not right for me. Rimmel 'Match Perfection' is my favourite one at the moment. It was recommended to me by quite a few friends so I decided to give in and try it. It's priced at £7.99 but is sometimes on offer; I got my last bottle for £5 when it was on offer in Superdrug. It has quite a good coverage and tends to stay on quite well and isn't too expensive either. I also have the Rimmel 'Stay Matte' foundation in Ivory. I bought this when I was without my make up bag for a couple of weeks (I had left it at my cousin's house by mistake, nightmare!) and wanted to try another Rimmel foundation to see if this would give better coverage. This is the lightest colour they had in Boots, but it is still too dark for me! Now, I put this on top of my other foundation just to give it a more Matte finish without looking too orange. This is a pound less than the other foundation and is pretty good too.

Next my collection 2000 'lasting perfection' concealer - I know this isn't in order but it worked better in this photo! Anyway, this was another product that I think I bought after many youtubers like Zoella starting obsessing over it a couple of years ago and I have been using it ever since. It's only £4.19 (I think) so not breaking the bank, and it seems to last me around 3-4 months so it's quite good value. It works really well under my eyes and provides great coverage whilst still looking natural (even on my very pale skin!) It also works well on the rest of my face and you don't need to use either.

Then, I apply my eyeliner. I never leave the house without eyeliner on and I've become a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to applying it. This is the 'Extreme 24hour felt tip liner' from Collection 2000. I discovered this product a couple of years ago and I have repurchased it probably 8(ish) times since then! It's only £2.99 so is definitely worth checking out if you haven't already. It is easy to apply and dries fairly quickly, but it is also very easy to take off. My only criticism with this product is that by the end of the day, it has normally gone above my eyelids... I think I need to invest in some kind of eyeshadow primer or something - any suggestions would be welcome!

Following this, I apply my mascara. I have so many different mascaras, but this one is definitely my favourite. This is the 'Desert Metals Mascara' from Teeez cosmetics. I received this in my 'You Beauty Discovery Box' for February 2014 and it is worth something like £18!? I was very lucky to receive this in my box as it is from a brand I probably wouldn't have found/tried otherwise but I'm glad I did! It has a good size brush and does not make my lashes look clumpy

Finally, I use the 'Born Lippy Stick lip balm' in Plum from the body shop. This as you would expect, smells absolutely amazing and gives a lovely tint to my lips without going over the top with colour. At £3.00, it is the same price (bar a penny) as Baby Lips but I prefer the colour that this gives.

So here is the finished product!

Hope you enjoyed this post,

Love Lottie x
